We dressed up in our Sunday best for a black tie ball at Espace; we were windswept at a Southside seaside affair; we even went international for a vineyard wedding in the Hamptons. So when it came time to celebrate five years of marriage to my beau Francis, frankly, I just wanted to take a nap.
Sometimes there’s no better way to toast your love story than with a low-key evening at home, but Francis had other ideas. Between stops on our whirlwind wedding tour, Francis was whipping around the city in search of the perfect anniversary gift.
Traditionally, wood marks the five-year stretch, but Francis knows better than to tender an empty wooden jewellery box. His first stop was Chow Tai Fook in Sha Tin, where he spied a stunning diamond-studded sun pendant from Hearts On Fire’s Aerial Collection, which was inspired by atmospheric elements like rain drops, snowflakes and rays of sunshine. Designed by Ilaria Lanzoni, the Aerial Eclipse Pendant that Francis scooped up showcases a halo of perfectly cut and perfectly symmetrical diamonds touting Hearts On Fire’s signature hearts and arrows pattern.
One of the things I love about Francis is his generous spirit – and his eagerness to surprise and delight – so after nestling the pendant on the first tier of the jewellery box, he then made a second trip, this time to Chow Tai Fook at Silvercord in Tsim Sha Tsui, to bedeck the bottom layer. And what I found took my breath away: the Illa Right Hand Ring.
Francis has a wonderful habit of telling me he loves me as much as “all the stars in the sky” each night before bed, so this glistening comet couldn’t have been a more meaningful way to commemorate our fifth anniversary. I now wear it as often as my engagement ring, a daily reminder that he’s wrapped around my finger…and I around his.
