Previous H&M collabs were also eagerly anticipated.
H&M officially announced their next designer collaboration and it is with luxury French fashion house, Kenzo. The men’s and women’s ready-to-wear line and accessories will be available worldwide and online on the 3rd of the month.
Those familiar with Kenzo can rest assured that Lim and Leon will bring their jungle inspired style to the Kenzo x H&M collection, as evidenced by the short clip Kenzo x H&M released tagged #kenzoxhm.
Under the helm of Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, the house is renowned for their rebellious outlook on fashion trends, making the vibrant and playful designers the perfect pair to follow on the heels of Olivier Rousteing.
Last year, Rousteing’s highly anticipated Balmain x H&M collection launched on November 5th and sold out on the same day. What was dubbed as the #hmbalmaination hysteria, the twittersphere was simultaneously excited and wary over whether Lim and Leon can truly live up to Rousteing.
Stylistas were immediately curious…
#H&M and #Kenzo?! It’s too good to be true, but it is true! We’re already wondering what gems will come from this!

But others were more skeptical…
So they’re doing a #kenzoxhm will it be better than #BALMAINxHM ???
– Toni @Toniii_Tone
It is not surprising that people are wary when the lead-up to Rousteing’s Balmain x H&M was one of the most exciting fashion campaigns to date. Featuring high profile model, Kendall Jenner, in a futuristic dance-off and Rousteing himself as the train conductor, this campaign video was the perfect blend of couture and urban chic.
However, H&M’s Head of Design, Ann-Sofie Johansson, is not worried. “We can’t wait to share with everyone the world of Kenzo x H&M,” she told media.
After all, Lim and Leon are no strangers to collaborations. The pair has worked with some of the biggest brands in the world, including Vans, Evian and Google. Most recently in April, Kenzo partnered with Disney on a collection of limited edition clothing that coincided with the premiere of The Jungle Book.
What Lim and Leon will bring to Kenzo’s collaboration with H&M is currently a mystery but lovers of this fashion powerhouse can look forward to an exciting campaign.
