Bangkok International Fashion Week 2018: Vatanika

Our favourite looks from Bangkok International Fashion Week 2018 through the lens of Giancarlo Galavotti.

BIFW 2018, Bangkok’s signature fashion week, returned to showcase the cream of Thailand’s fashion design scene. The event was presented by Siam Piwat and collaboratively held between three leading shopping centers under the concept “One Siam” – Siam ParagonSiam Center and Siam Discovery. This was no coincidence, as the area has been the epicentre of Thai fashion for many eras.

Each night was met with excited fashionistas as they waited patiently in line for the shows to start. Celebrities and socialites were dressed to the nines in their finest, looking as beautiful as the models set to take the stage. Our favourites from the week had to be Vatanika, Asava, Tube Gallery, Nagara and Palmer Harding.

Vatanika Presented by Citi was certainly one of the hottest shows of the event, as the temperature surrounding the runway rose while models turned seductresses strutted their stuff. The Spring/Summer 2018 collection was inspired by female gestures and set on what appeared to be a Greek island, next to a church. Two men and a lady in a white hat covering her face sat in the middle of the runway while models walked past showcasing a progressive, timeless, sultry and contemporary collection.

Vatanika stole back her show at the end as it emerged she was in fact the mysterious lady in the hat. She wore the collection’s hottest swimsuit, made of silver neoprene fabric.
