Shabnam Arashan

Gown: Carolina Herrera
Jewellery: Chopard
Shoes: Versace
“I like the boldness of the print. I think it’s very different, especially with the play of colours — a bit of a pink peekaboo with a yellow belt and black-and-white embellishments. It just stands out on its own.”

Awarded: A pair of Paolo Costagli earrings from the Brillante Collection in 18k rose gold, with a detachable pendant feature

Grace Chng

Gown: Oscar de la Renta
Jewellery: Bulgari and bespoke pieces
Timepiece: DeLaCour
Shoes: Hermès
“For this dress, I like that the detailing looks three-dimensional. And I love that the gown is gold. I feel it brightens up my look.”

Awarded: A Piaget Iconic Possession Turning Ring

Ethel Fong-Chalopin

Gown: Isabel Sanchis
Jewellery: Buccellati and
Van Cleef & Arpels rings
Timepiece: Chopard
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
“I am a very understated dresser. This Isabel Sanchis gown is very simple in its own way — it’s elegant, feminine and yet edgy, which brings out the fun-loving daredevil side of me.”

Awarded: An Ebel X-1 white and rose gold ceramic timepiece

Susanna Han

Gown: Mikael D
Jewellery: Cartier rings, earrings and brooches (pinned on hair) custom-made by a Hong Kong jeweller, bangles from Flower Diamond and a Thai jeweller
Shoes: Versace
“Cinderella (the movie) inspired me and it made me want to live in fantasy. Yellow dresses are both difficult to find and hard to match with Asian skin tone, so when Mikael D was in Singapore, we picked the right shade together. Besides being covered in lace, the dress features 11 layers of tulle.”

Awarded: A Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Lady Ultra Thin timepiece

Tanny Kea

Gown: Zac Posen
Jewellery: Flower Diamond
Shoes: Saint Laurent

“What caught my eye when I first saw this dress was its crocodile skin. Zac Posen, who was in Singapore at that time, actually pinned the hem for me and said there are only two pieces in the world. The other one was bought by a princess in the Middle East. I always look for limited edition items, so this was perfect.”

Awarded: A pair of Damiani Burlesque earrings in white gold with black diamonds and rubies

Georgia Lee

Gown: Divina by
Edward Arsouni
Jewellery: Bespoke earrings by David Gan
Shoes: Christian Dior
“I was very inspired by the cover shoot I did with Prestige [for its August issue] and wanted to recreate that retro vintage look. So I did my hair the same way and found a dress to complement the hairstyle. This is by a Lebanese designer who has his own couture line. It initially had butterfly wings behind but I altered it to give it a simple, timeless aesthetic.”

Awarded: A Georg Jensen voucher worth $10,000

Rany Moran

Gown: Rubin Singer
Jewellery: Mondial earrings, Chopard and Van Cleef & Arpels rings and DeFred Jewellers bracelet
Timepiece: Cartier
Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti
“I fell in love the first time I saw this dress. I have not seen anything as structured and I think it’s a piece of art”

Awarded: A Chopard Happy Diamonds necklace in rose gold with three moving diamonds

Kelly Sia

Gown: Chanel
Jewellery: Cartier ring, Tasaki pearl necklace and other bespoke pieces
Timepiece: Parmigiani Fleurier
“I love the classic elegance of old Hollywood and film noir, so much so that I watch and re-watch all the old movies and even study them. My fascination inspired this look. I found my gown at Decades in Los Angeles and it’s a vintage couture circa 1979.”

Awarded: A Judith Leiber Escher Minaudière, a jet-black Austrian crystal-studded clutch with hand-cut faceted clear crystal embellishment.

Marisa Wee

Gown: Alexis Mabille
Jewellery: Boucheron and Cartier rings, and La Putri earrings
Timepiece: Chaumet
“I like the fact that I had input in the dress and spoke to the designer. We sort of threw out ideas about what we can do to make the dress special and different from everything else out there. [Alexis Mabille] is an interesting, creative person and he eventually decided to make the gown like a shirt, so that’s why there are button holes [down the front].”

Awarded: A Buben & Zorweg Time Mover — B&Z-TM-SPIRIT — in aluminium, steel, wood and glass, with state-of-the-art LED lighting technology with fading function

Grace Yeh

Gown: Oscar de la Renta
Jewellery: Bespoke pieces
Timepiece: Van Cleef & Arpels
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
“I love the colour and cutting of my dress — it’s really beautiful and unique. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it and simply knew it was the right dress for the Ball. Fashion is my passion, so I feel very honoured and happy to win this award.”

Awarded: A pair of Flower Diamond 18k white gold Merlion Diamond Earrings

Kathryn Yap and Martin Geh

On Her
Gown: Maticevski
Jewellery and Timepiece: Flower Diamond
“I love the colour of this dress; it’s electrifying. I also like the shape — or perhaps, shapelessness — of it. I actually had two dress options and the other one is in red. I decided on this dress at the last minute.”

On Him
Suit, shirt and bow tie: Giorgio Armani

Awarded: A Bulgari Lucea bracelet for her and a Bulgari Octo Steel Leather Watch for him, as well as a bottle of Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque champagne and a limited edition Martell XO Architect
