What went down at the Iconsiam grand opening event?

Following Iconsiam’s driving concept of ‘the best of Thailand meets the best of the world’, the grand opening event saw a collaboration between seven premium local and international event organisers, featuring world-famous international artists and skilled Thai professionals. Guests enjoyed an impressive line-up of performances including Alicia Keys.

Of course, the event highlight was without a doubt the ‘Eternal Prosperity’ held along the Chao Phraya River Bank. The performance featured a combination of Thai traditional dance, modern dance and acrobatic performances. Spectacular Sri Mahasamut sailing ships sailed across the river, joined by a stunning troop of 1,500 drones — the largest number of drones ever to be used for a show in Southeast Asia. The drones danced across the sky in a breathtaking light-show, projecting images of Siam. This was followed by a much-awaited concert by Alicia Keys, who was joined by over 500 performers.

Towards the end of the evening, the Magnolia Waterfront Residences and The Residences at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok lit up against the night sky. They provided a backdrop for the longest river dance performance ever held in Southeast Asia. The event ended off with a fun-filled after party concert, featuring famous singers such as Burin Boonvisut, Non Thanon and ETC band at the Iconsiam Park.

Where’s the craze?

Inside Iconsiam

With skyscraper condominiums, over 500 shops and its very own ‘Heritage Museum’, Iconsiam is the latest riverside mega-brainchild of Thailand’s three property honchos — Siam Piwat, Magnolia Quality Development and Charoen Pokphand. Visitors can look forward to a 3,500 seat auditorium, Thailand’s first ever Apple Store, along with over 100 exciting restaurants. Further establishing Bangkok as the city of malls, the new landmark offers more reason to travel across the Chao Phraya River.
