The Ultimate BMW: The M4 GTS

We take a look at the fastest road-going car ever built by BMW.

Built in a limited edition of just 700 examples, BMW’s incoming M4 GTS coupe promises to be the ultimate “ultimate driving machine”. Billed as the fastest road-going car ever from the Munich-based manufacturer, it’s powered by an inline, 3-litre, six-cylinder, twin-turbo engine that produces a smidgeon under 500bhp and a stonking 600Nm. Those numbers make it good enough for a 0-100km/h time of 3.8 seconds and a governed maximum speed of 308.

Unlike the regular M4, it’s constructed from lightweight aluminium, carbon fibre and composites. It’s also underpinned by trick suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres – all of which make it an extreme enthusiasts’ toy. The drawbacks? As there’s no back seat, it’s strictly for two. And as rumour has it that the entire production run is already sold out, you’ll need to move very smartly indeed if you’re desperate to get your hands on one.
