PRESTIGE PICKS: TIME FOR TEA

In this week’s online exclusive, ANNA HOFFMAN picks out three of Hong Kong’s best afternoon teas
Sometimes you need to treat yourself after a hard week’s work, and there’s no better way to do it than to sit down with friends and family for afternoon tea. Hong Kong has such a wide range of deals available that it can be hard to pick the best, so we’ve done the legwork and picked three of our favourites.
Sevva
For all of the vegetarians out there, Sevva is your perfect destination for an afternoon tea. With a special 'We Love Vegetables' menu that includes tomatoes, avocado and chopped egg white on toasted soylin bread, Poori Indian Nachos and a deluxe vegetarian club sandwich, you will leave completely satisfied. Sevva also offers a non-vegetarian menu that is just as appetizing and innovative. Located on the top floor of Prince’s Building, Sevva is a quirky and fun place to spend an afternoon.
Café Gray, Upper House
If you are looking for a meal with a view, you and your family will certainly enjoy the beautiful view of Victoria Harbour from Café Gray’s dining room. With afternoon teas available daily from 3:30-5:30, Café Gray’s diverse menu will definitely have something that suits your taste. With a mouth-watering dessert menu that includes Mandarin Cheesecake, blackcurrant scones and a selection of homemade jams, by the time 5.30 comes around you won’t want to leave.
Island Shangri-La
For a more decadent afternoon tea, head to the Lobster Bar and Grill at the Island Shangri-la. With two different menus available – a winter-themed menu called Winter Apple and their traditional menu – the Island Shangri-la has something for everyone. Open from 3 to 5 every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday, this is the perfect place to treat yourself.
