RAY FERGUSON

CEO of Standard Chartered's Singapore office since 2009, Ferguson managed to steer the bank through the recession without letting go a single person. He also plans to have 8,000 personnel in place by 2012, up 2,000 from 2010, when the hiring began. Under his charge, Standard Chartered Singapore delivered record results for the first half of 2012 — a 17% growth in profit to US$546 million on a 6% growth in income to US$1.162 billion. An international banker with more than 20 years of management experience, Ferguson was also regional CEO for Southeast Asia from December 2007 to January this year. In that time, the bank's business in the region experienced significant growth, with income and profit doubling over the four-year period, and Singapore becoming the second largest contributor to group profits, generating US$1 billion in 2011.
