CEO of FJ Benjamin (Singapore) since 2006, Benjamin was appointed group COO of the holdings company in 2012. In his new role, he overseas offices in nine cities managing over 20 iconic brands and operating 166 stores. The group employs more than 2,000 people.
Benjamin won the prestigious Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of the Year (Lifestyle and Retail) award for 2012, which recognised him as a leader in building brands, and developing retail and distribution networks for international luxury and lifestyle labels across Asia. He was also cited as a reputable industry leader who has been instrumental in managing and directing the growth of some of the most iconic global fashion brands. Benjamin has gained recognition and respect for his experience and expertise not only in Singapore, but also in the international fashion capitals of London and New York.
The eldest son of founder Frank Benjamin, he has been with FJ Benjamin for 23 years, and was responsible for the launch of its successful in-house label Raoul. Benjamin remains co-creative director of the homegrown fashion label together with his wife, Odile, and oversees its strategic and operational direction, as well as its international expansion. Launched in 2002, Raoul began as a men's shirt label and has since evolved to include a full collection of ready-to-wear for men and women. The brand has a strong presence with company-owned stores in Asia, and a wide international distribution network across the US and Europe. Last year, Raoul opened its first in-store retail outlet in the US at Bloomingdale's flagship department store in New York. The Duchess of Cambridge Catherine Middleton also chose to wear a dress from the label when she visited Singapore in 2012.
Beyond his work in fashion and retail, he is co-founder and board member of Kidz Horizon Appeal, which helps children with chronic illnesses, and sits on the board of trustees for the KK Women's and Children's Hospital Health Endowment fund.
