Ariya’s parents believed in their daughter’s talent so much that they sold their house, car and business to fully back her dream of becoming a professional golfer. Their sacrifices have since paid off. “Pro May”, as she is affectionately called in the Thai media, made golfing history this year, winning the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic and becoming the first Thai to win an LPGA tournament. She further stunned golf fans by winning the next two tournaments, becoming the first ever player to win three consecutive LPGA titles. Ariya shot in the rankings to world number two this August and also represented Thailand at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
