It's a time to rejoice as Salvatore Ferragamo has finally announced Paul Andrew as their design director of women's footwear, following the departure of former Creative Director Massimiliano Giorneti in March after 16 years with the luxury fashion house.
"We are excited to welcome such a dynamic and established talent into the Ferragamo company. We have a proud history of nurturing design talent and we believe that Paul’s credo very much matches the spirit at the heart of our house," said president Ferruccio Ferragamo in a release – but with a fashion pedigree such as Andrew's, it is without surprise that this announcement has been met with widespread approval.
Andrew founded his eponymous footwear brand in 2013 – specialising in chic and elegant footwear for men and women – after years of working closely with iconic fashion houses such as Donna Karan and Alexander McQueen.
A year after wowing the fashion world with his collection, Andrew went on to become the first footwear designer to receive the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue Fashion Fund award, but of course he didn't stop there. In June 2016, he also won the CFDA Swarovski Award for Accessory Design.
Honoured and excited for Salvatore Ferragamo's future, Andrew said in an official statement, "I look forward to bringing a new perspective to the company in line with the demands of today's marketplace, marrying the power of its heritage and industrial force with high design and the latest innovations in material and make."
There will be no stopping the Italian fashion house with Andrew at its helm. His first collection will debut for the Pre-Fall 2017 season but fear not, while we wait with bated breath, see Salvatore Ferragamo's stunning Fall/Winter 2016 collection now in their campaign video below.
