3 highlights of GastroMonth to sign up for

There’s no saying no to a whole month of wining and dining.

The inaugural edition of GastroMonth gets under way starting October 30, and there’s a whole lot to look forward to. Presented by Robert Parker Wine Advocate, it will include a host of events that revolve around the themes of “wine, dine, and recognise”. Here we unpack the extensive programme.

GastroMonth Circle of Excellence gala dinner and awards ceremony
Held at the Island Ballroom at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, this event honours local stars in these categories: innovative and bold chef, innovative and bold restaurateur, and the best-loved restaurant team, restaurant manager, bartender, sommelier and street food vendor. Six award-winning chefs from local and overseas Michelin-starred restaurants — from VEA in Hong Kong and Mizumi in Macau to Cheek by Jowl and Meta in Singapore — will team up to present the evening’s dinner. Look forward to the greatest hits compilation by these outstanding greats, starting with an amuse bouche by the Innovative and Bold Chef Award recipient, followed by Hokkaido monkfish liver with sea urchin paired with sake gel, Australian Wagyu beef charsiew with white eel and X.O. sauce, and ending with banana cake with miso and parsley oil, with other exquisite creations in between.

Exclusive dining experiences and privileges
Fancy a private tour of three-Michelin-starred Joël Robuchon’s kitchen, a luxurious omakase lunch menu at two-Michelin-starred Shoukouwa, or priority bookings for one-Michelin-starred Chef Kang’s? You’re in luck — more than 40 acclaimed local restaurants will participate in GastroMonth, offering specially curated menus. Reservations can be made online.

Masterclasses with the masters
Chef Liu Guo Zhu (of Golden Flower at Wynn Macau) and Chef Min Kim (of Mizumi at Wynn Palace Cotai, Macau) will conduct classes at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore to introduce gourmets to Imperial Tan cuisine from the Qing Dynasty and to authentic Japanese cuisine. And during Robert Parker Wine Advocate’s Matter of Taste wine events, explore more than 200 undiscovered wines around the world that are rated RP90 and above, even RP100.
