3 experiences for mothers at Sentosa

A night or two at one of Sentosa’s plush hotels will help you show appreciation to the leading lady in your life this Mother’s Day.

If waking up to nature sounds peaceful and relaxing to you, well, that’s exactly what you’ll enjoy at this luxurious resort. Surrounded by 30 acres of lush rainforest, Capella Singapore has 112 guest rooms, including one-bedroom villas perfect for mums craving some me-time away from the crowds. Just how exclusive are these villas? Well, they each come with a private plunge pool, outdoor shower facilities, ample living spaces, as well as personal assistants on hand and a private chauffeur service. There is much to do on the resort too. From an indulgent treatment at its Auriga spa to a sumptuous lunch at Cassia or The Knolls, Capella has it all covered. And if Mum is still game for some after-dusk revelry, make over to Bob’s Bar for a thirst-quenching tipple.

1 The Knolls, Sentosa Island

A resort that seems worlds away from the hustle and bustle of Singapore (but is actually only 10 minutes away from the city centre), the Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa is truly an urban island sanctuary. Accommodation here includes four 300-sq-m private villas where you can commune with nature away from others while lounging on an open deck or doing your laps in the personal pool. All this means Mum doesn’t have to worry about being disturbed during her retreat. Other facilities at the resort include a 33-m swimming pool, two tennis courts, Villa des Enfants kids club, So FIT gym and direct access to Tanjong Beach. The So SPA is its largest in the world and comes with six outdoor spa pavilions, float pools, as well as mineral-rich mud pools, whose restorative powers will have you feeling at your best. Culinary options include fine Italian fare at ilLido at the Cliff and exquisite French, Pan-Asian and local delicacies at Kwee Zeen.

For an extra special experience at the Le Méridien Singapore, Sentosa, pick from two rooms. One is the Heritage Merlion Room, from which you can enjoy a view of the iconic Merlion statue; the other is the spacious 63-sq-m Onsen Suite, where Mum can lounge under the stars on a private open-air deck after relaxing dips in the in-room Japanese onsen hot tub. If she is an art enthusiast, she will be pleased to know that this heritage hotel also has a special Unlock Art Cultural Programme, which gives guests complimentary access to galleries and art institutions simply by showing their room key. For this year, the keycard also entitles Mum to free general admission to the National Gallery Singapore, which houses the largest public collection of modern art in Southeast Asia. Additionally, the hotel’s Latest Recipe restaurant will also run a Mother’s Day buffet from May 12-13.

23 Beach View, Sentosa

For the woman who enjoys being one with the sea, a stay at One°15 Marina Club in Sentosa Cove is definitely one for the photo albums. There are four types of rooms here,  all featuring nautical elements. Hill View comes with an overhead sunroof in the bathroom, while Marina View has an outdoor balcony that opens up to a breathtaking panoramic view of the marina. The one-bedroom Cove Suite is fitted with a Jacuzzi tub for more indulgent moments, while the 160-sq-m Monte Carlo Suite wows with its marina views, floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor balcony. The club’s Mother’s Day Getaway special also includes a 30-minute back massage for two at Spa Rael, while brunch for Mum is free with every two paying adults at the Latitude Bistro. Yacht charters are also available for the occasion, with a skipper and a sweet cake to make the celebrations even more memorable.

11 Cove Drive, Sentosa Cove

Situated a stone’s throw from Quayside Isle at Sentosa Cove, the W Singapore has a vibrant ambience and cool setting that will leave Mum feeling youthful. While one may choose from 10 different types of rooms and suites, we recommend the Away Suite. It is located on the same floor as the hotel’s Away Spa, so Mum can truly relax and recharge without having to venture far. Spanning 82sqm, the Away Suite is a tropical paradise with an expansive open terrace and plunge pool that shields guests hectic city life. For mums looking to keep active, the hotel offers a Re(Treat) Yourself package with a detox programme that includes fitness training at the fully equipped fitness centre FIT, followed by a 60-minute massage at the spa. Also available at the spa is a wide range of wellness facilities, including decompression area, sauna, steam room, vitality pool, herbal bath and experiential showers. Dining options include The Kitchen Table, Skirt and Woobar.

21 Ocean Way

Since its opening in 2007, the Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa has been honoured with several accolades, including the Singapore Service Class and Excellent Service awards. So mums can expect to be spoilt like a princess for the weekend. Villas stretch over 201sqm of indoor and outdoor space, which includes a personal lounge pool, outdoor stone bath and patio (with retractable canopy too). The hotel’s Spa Luna is an oasis of peace and tranquillity, thanks in part to the hills of lush greenery, lovely water features, as well as a comprehensive menu of treatments and therapies. If Mum wants to work up a sweat, a private Pilates session can be arranged as well. Round off the stay with mouthwatering delights at all-day bistro Shutters, or kick back with a cocktail and tapas at the idyllic Tier Bar.
