A leader in Singapore's Chinese community and current chairman of Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, Chua is also a well-known philanthropist. With a generous gift of $5 million in 2011, he established the Chua Thian Poh Community Leadership Programme, which aims to groom Singapore's next generation of community leaders. This year, the programme held its first student-led symposium, with six fellows from the inaugural batch of fellows sharing their research findings on a diverse range of social issues.
