The former Cabinet minister retired from Temasek Holdings in 2013, which he has chaired since 1996, only to join sovereign wealth fund GIC last year as director — marking his second stint there. Dhanabalan was one of the company’s founding board members on its establishment in 1981 and had served till 2005. GIC manages more than US$100 billion in assets and in 2014, expanded its global presence by opening its 10th office in São Paulo. GIC recently made its first New Zealand property investment initially valued at US$313 million.
