MOST OF US in Hong Kong welcome the winter months and the respite they offer from the city's constant heat and humidity, but for us at Prestige, the infinitesimal drop in temperature only puts us in the mood for hotter things.
And where in the world are things most definitely heating up? In the southern hemisphere – duh. We travelled by plane, train and boat to and around the land down under, spotting kangaroos and canyons along the way, throwing back a few glasses of Umamu wine from Margaret River, and chatting up a fair few Oz dwellers that have made names for themselves up north as well. Hugh Jackman, for one, shows us first-hand why he's one of the nicest guys in
showbiz today, while Perth's Kym Ellery tells us about landing a prime slot in the Paris Fashion Week calendar for her eponymous line.
Speaking of local talents with global impact, a long-time friend of the magazine, Donnie Yen – another actor widely recognised for his affable manner – covers our year-end issue, talking to us about his upcoming turn in Ip Man 3, and spilling just one or two details about being cast in the next Star Wars film, one of the most closely guarded sets in
film history.
Less reserved were the 100 prolific eaters we queried for the Foodie 100, our annual compilation of the best dishes consumed by culinary and society heavyweights ranging from celebrity chef Michael White and 50 Best Restaurants Group Editor William Drew to model-turned-juice maven Cara G and On Dining's cheese legend Jeremy Evrard.
But surely you'll have too many indulgent engagements already planned for the festive season to be thinking only of food. Feast your eyes instead on our seasonal gift guide, which features so many extravagant stocking stuffers, you may have to give yourself a year-end bonus as well. We certainly plan to.
