Cannes blings it on

Here are the jewels we couldn’t take our eyes off at the Cannes Film Festival.

The 70th annual Cannes Film Festival kicked off on May 17, and already we’ve seen a parade of sparkling gems and brilliant jewels to keep us mesmerised until the festival closes on May 28. Maisons such as Cartier, Bulgari, Piaget and Chopard, official partner of Cannes for 20 years now, all pulled out all the stops, and these are a few of our new favourite things.

For the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès ceremony, Italian actress and Mistress of Ceremonies Monica Belluci picked Cartier‘s high jewellery platinum necklace, set with diamonds and a 5.08-ct sapphire.

Michelle Yeoh walked the Nelyubov premiere red carpet in a white gold and titanium necklace set with a black opal, 3,586ct of spinels, 37.58ct of sapphires, diamonds, opals, tsavorites and amethysts from Chopard‘s 2017 Red Carpet Collection, and a white gold and diamond bracelet from the Maison’s High Jewellery Collection.

Piaget International Brand Ambassador Jessica Chastain showed off the Maison’s Sun On Fire Necklace, in 18k white gold and set with a 5.01-ct pear-shaped diamond, rubies and diamonds, from Piaget’s new Sunlight Journey high jewellery collection.

Bulgari‘s new Accessories Ambassador Bella Hadid stepped out in the Il Magnifico necklace, set with a magnificent 180-ct cabochon sapphire, from Bulgari’s new High Jewellery collection, Festa, and a high jewellery ring in platinum with rock crystal, a 3.59-ct sapphire and pavé-set diamonds.

Czech model and friend of Chopard Petra Nemcova was a vision in the Maison’s 2017 Red Carpet Collection necklace in yellow gold set with yellow diamonds totalling 69.85ct and white diamonds totalling 40.37ct, and earrings in yellow gold featuring yellow diamonds and white diamonds.

British-Thai actress Araya Hargate dazzled in Chopard‘s High Jewellery Collection necklace in white gold set with sapphires totalling 44.85ct and diamonds, and earrings in white gold set with sapphires of 22.24ct and diamonds.

Model Emily Ratajkowski chose a clean backdrop of a gown for this knockout from Bulgari, which is actually a combination of the High Jewellery necklace in pink gold set with pearls, rubellites and diamonds, and a 1969 necklace in gold with emerald, rubies and diamonds.

Brazilian model Adriana Lima turned heads with this Chopard statement bib in white gold set with pear-shaped diamonds totalling 163.85ct and a pair of diamond stud earrings in white gold, all from the High Jewellery Collection.

Uma Thurman went the pastel route with Bulgari‘s High Jewellery Serpenti necklace in pink gold and pavé diamonds totalling 40.32ct, a High Jewellery Serpenti bracelet in pink gold and pavé diamonds totalling 28.82ct, and Griffe Diamanti earrings in white gold with diamonds.
