When Coach Meets Rodarte

The collaboration sets the season abuzz with a limited edition capsule collection.

What happens when a heritage house of leather teams up with an independent fashion visionary? Creative director of Coach Stuart Vevers answers the question by staging an American Revolution of sorts with Rodarte. Working together with Kate and Laura Mulleavy, he explores the fusion of two distinct geographical-influenced design vocabularies: the New York-based leather goods brands attachment to utility in casual luxury versus the Los Angeles-located Rodarte’s pursuit of romance in demi-couture.

Cleverly employing the Mulleavy sisters’ signature use of special appliqué techniques gives Coach’s original glove-tanned leather a totally modern upgrade for this limited edition collection. Comprising ready-to-wear pieces such as motorcycle jackets, dresses, sweatshirts and  T-shirts, the assortment includes bags spanning from wristlets and crossbody bags to totes bearing Rodarte’s take on Coach’s advertisements from the 1970s and 1980s with the slogan “This is a Coach Bag”.
