On The Walk with Michael Kors

We #SidewalkSpotted a new squad goal.

From downtown New York, Michael KorsThe Walk campaign — now in its third instalment —  shifts to California. This season, three bags from MICHAEL Michael Kors’ Mercer line (specifically the tote, duffle and crossbody iterations) take centre stage with a new band of chic girls: Hailee Steinfeld, Kelly Rohrbach, Jillian Hervey and Hikari Mori.

“Sunny Los Angeles was the perfect destination to celebrate the arrival of spring,” Kors pointed out. “These four women have adventurous and optimistic styles that set the tone for the season.”

HAILEE STEINFELD

The True Grit actress scored an Oscar nomination when she was just 14, made her debut as a singer at 19 with “Starving”, her now certified-platinum single, and followed it all up with a Golden Globe nomination for her role in last year’s the coming-of-age movie, The Edge of Seventeen… And she’s still only 20 years old.

Here, she carries The Mercer Tote with silver keychains and floral-embellished leather strap.

What’s the biggest lesson you learned from growing up in the spotlight?

Never take things too seriously.

How would you describe your personal style?

It depends on my mood. My style is constantly evolving. I’ve been having fun taking more risks lately.

Hailee’s LA guide:

Eat at Craig’s in West Hollywood.

Shop on Melrose Place.

See the sights at God’s Seat in Malibu.

KELLY ROHRBACH

Not just another pretty face, the American model is also a golf pro armed with a degree in theatre. Now, she is set to sizzle in the upcoming movie reboot of Baywatch, taking on the role of CJ Parker that catapulted Pamela Anderson to fame.

Here, she carries The Mini Mercer Crossbody with fur keychain and studded leather strap.

How do you get “beach ready” for your Baywatch shoots?

Hiking, yoga, and eating clean.

How would you describe your personal style?

Easy, jeans and a tee, and on lazier days, dare I say… workout leggings?

Kelly’s LA guide:

Shop at Malibu Country Mart.

Get brunch at Farmshop in Brentwood.

Go for drinks at Sunset Tower Bar.

JILLIAN HERVEY

One-half of super-cool duo Lion Babe, this musical multi-hyphenate is the daughter of another famous multi-hyphenate: Vanessa Williams. The rising star has been commanding the stage with her sassy style, sultry vocals and phenomenal presence, leading to collaborations with A-list talents, including Pharrell Williams and Mark Ronson.

Here, she carries The Mercer Duffle in gold.

What are you listening to right now?

The new Childish Gambino is fire. Love the funk.

See the sights at La Brea Tar Pits and Museum as well as the Natural History Museum.

See a gig at The Roxy — it was a fun spot for our first show!

HIKARI MORI

If her name rings a bell, that’s because the Japanese actress-model is none other than the granddaughter of legendary fashion designer Hanae Mori. Known for combining unexpected pieces, her standout style has not only won her a growing Instagram fan base, but has also seen her stealing the limelight at many a fashion show, catching the eyes of Vogue editors.

Here, she carries The Mercer Tote in white and black with studs and grommets

What are the 5 wardrobe pieces you couldn’t live without?

Sunglasses, leather biker jacket, jeans, vintage T-shirt, and a white pair of clean fresh sneakers

I wouldn’t consider myself a tomboy, but I like things that feel a bit boyish.

Hikari’s LA guide:

Get back to nature at Salvation Mountain. I shot my style book there and I think it’s my favorite place.

DAISY EMERSON

Another cool collaborator Kors tapped on is Daisy Emerson, the London-based illustrator and letterer behind the personalised designs you see on the bags for the girls — each painted by hand. She counts Facebook, Google, John Lewis and Scotch & Soda as some of her clients.

How does your art affect your personal style?

My personal style is quite far removed from my artwork. I’m the total opposite when it comes to color! I often wear only black, white or gray, so very muted compared to the color palette I use in my artwork. I do love the odd pop of color and I’m obsessed with anything that’s
