9 Things To Know About Colette’s New Collab

For starters, the Balenciaga takeover begins today.

1. Balenciaga is the first brand to take up residency on the entire first floor of the cult multi-label retailer. Occupancy ends on August 5th.

2. For a 98-year-old, the French fashion house sure has some ingenious experiential tricks up its sleeve — you get to shop while you travel. Screens broadcasting videos of street scenes in various cities are installed over Colette’s windows.

3. Another window effect wows on out on the street, with blue sand raining from the top over white Balenciaga logos before disappearing at the bottom, like an infinite hourglass. This special installation runs till June 25th.

4. While Balenciaga’s Autumn/Winter 2017 menswear collection by artistic director Demna Gvasalia dominates the space, you’ll find selected classic pieces from womenswear recast in fabrics and colours from the menswear collection, exclusively available at Colette.

5. The corporate executives from Autumn/Winter 2017 menswear show will find themselves right at home in the “copycentre” that Balenciaga has set up in Colette. Equipped with two digital print machines, you can customise white T-shirts or hoodies with a selection of graphic overlays via the touch screens. Limited to 900 pieces, this DIY service ends on July 10th

6. Mei Kwajiri, the Japanese nail artist behind Balenciaga’s bold hand-painted digits, is on-site to reproduce her works from previous shows. Get your nails dressed to impress for free from July 2nd to 6th.

7. To celebrate Fête de la Musique (also known as Make Music Day or World Music Day) on June 21st, 100 limited edition vinyi records of the soundtrack from Balenciaga’s Autumn/Winter 2017 womenswear show by musician Boyfriend will be launched.

8. Bonus: Balenciaga’s also hosting Norwegian-German artist Yngve Holen’s thought-provocative CAKE art installation, which cuts a Porsche Panamera in four quarters, as you would with a cake.
