Danny Liew first met Isabelle Techawatanasuk as colleagues at the Economic Development Board. But it was only about a year later that the two went out on their first date to the movies. From there, the pair continued on their courtship journey for a year before deciding to tie the knot.
It seemed like a regular couple’s night out at Wild Rocket one evening — until Liew got down on one knee to ask for Techawatanasuk’s hand in marriage. In cahoots with the groom, chef-owner of the restaurant Willin Low was all along giving Techawatanasuk’s parents, Martin Geh and Kathryn Yap, live updates, while recording the entire proposal on video. When she said yes, her parents came out to join in the celebrations and pop the champagne.
Fast-forward another year and the couple celebrated their nuptials at the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore. The wedding banquet was an intimate affair, with approximately 150 guests made up of mostly family and close friends.
To create an elegant and romantic setting, the ballroom lights were kept soft and dim, with candle lights adorning the tables sheathed in dark linen with hints of gold, and romantic jazz music playing in the background. The evening also saw the bride entertaining guests with two song performances.
