Say hello to Porsche’s most powerful 911 yet

The German marque’s fastest and most robust road-approved 911 sports car is out.

If you were just in the UK for the recently concluded Goodwood Festival of Speed, you would have witness the global debut of Porsche‘s most powerful road-approved 911 to date: The Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

Just how boisterous is this sports car? The heart of this high-performance ride is a 700bhp biturbo flat engine that powers this two-seater to hit 100km/h from zero in just 2.8 seconds. A rear-wheel-drive coupe, it boasts a top speed of 340km/h, beating its 3.6-litres predecessor by 80bhp.

To achieve this, the automaker has put a lot of engineering thought into the car: A racing chassis with rear-axle steering and Ultra High Performance tyres, large turbochargers, an additional cooling system to ensures optimum power output. It also comes with a customised GT seven-speed double-clutch PDK transmission that allows power to be transferred with uninterrupted traction. Not to mention the specially developed exhaust system made from extra-lightweight titanium that shaves off approximately 7kg from the weight of the car. This sports car is also fitted with large, wide wheels for exceptional braking and cornering forces, with much of the car made using carbon to make the vehicle as light as possible.

On the inside, the interiors are a harmonious mix of luxury and sportiness. Red Alcantara and black leather presents a plush, cushy cabin. Add a sports steering wheel with shift paddles, as well as full bucket seats with a carbon weave finish and it spruces up the car for a more dynamic feel. And for drivers who want to take this car on the track, opt for the Chrono Package that expands the marque’s Porsche Communication Management (PCM) function to include performance display that displays, saves and evaluates track times.

Along with the launch — for the first time ever — the brand’s fashion arm, Porsche Design, is celebrating the launch of the 911 GT2 RS with a special timepiece, which can only be ordered upon purchase of the car. The 911 GT2 RS Chronograph is crafted from lightweight titanium and is fitted with Porsche Design’s first clock movement, the calibre 01.200. The watch includes a flyback function, a load-path-optimised movement bridge and an official COSC certificate of authenticity.
