Ferrari celebrates its iconic models

The Prancing Horse ends the year with a bang — an upcoming showcase of its well-loved cars in Ferrari Icons Exhibition.

It’s set to be an exhilarating weekend for car enthusiasts and Ferrari fans alike. The first week of December will see Singapore host its first exhibition of icons from the Italian automaker, with each one depicting a special journey of Ferrari Design.
Four models will be on display at the National Design Centre, including the Ferrari F40, 599 GTO, LaFerrari and the F12berlinetta, a unique 50th anniversary unit for Singapore (more details below). Along with the exhibition, a special lecture on Ferrari design, which will be open to the public, will be conducted on December 1.
On why Singapore is chosen for this event, Dieter Knechtel, managing director of Ferrari Far East, says: “Singapore is a key market in the Far East region for Ferrari, with its passion for fast cars and appreciation for motoring tradition and innovation. With this exhibition, Singapore continues to mark its integral part in the ever-growing Ferrari market in the Asia-Pacific region.”

This car first came to fruition in 1987. Designed by Pininfarina and conceived for the Prancing Horse’s 40th year, the road-legal car sports a body reminiscent of a race car with its low and aggressive stance. Its transparent engine cover is made from polycarbonate and shows off the impressive twin-turbo V8 engine, which propels the car to a maximum speed of 324kph. The supercar’s debut was the last model presided over by the late Enzo Ferrari before his death in 1988.

599 GTO

One of the most extreme road cars by the Italian brand, the V12-powered supercar boasts track-driving experience and performance in a road unit, with its aerodynamic body and reduced weight. Additionally, it features a second-generation magnetorheological suspension control system with the Vehicle Dynamic Control and F1-Trac traction control. The 599 GTO was launched in 2010 with only 599 units available.

This model is Ferrari’s most ambitious production for a road car. Boasting both GT and Formula 1 engineering, the concept car was designed by Design Head Flavio Manzoni. Representing the brand’s ambition to continually push the technological boundaries in a car, the left-hand-drive-only V12-powered model boasts a top speed of over 350kph and a 0-200kph acceleration time of under seven seconds.

50th Anniversary Tailor Made F12berlinetta

The F12berlinetta is the most powerful Ferrari in the automaker’s current product range. For Singapore’s jubilee year, this anniversary F12berlinetta is a piece-unique model styled by the brand’s Tailor Made department, using elements from framed Singapore iconography. No surprise that it is finished in a unique shade of metallic red dubbed Rosso Singapore, with racing stripes in our national colours to mark the Italian marque’s partnership with our island-state.
The Ferrari Icons Exhibition will run from November 30 to December 3, 2015
