5 latest SUVs to hit Singapore shores

We can’t get enough of these family-friendly rides.

1. BMW X3

Available in three variants — xLine, Luxury Line and the range-topping M Sport — the third-generation BMW X3 has been engineered to deliver improved driving dynamics, directional stability and steering feel without compromising on ride comfort, thanks to modifications done on the chassis. The robust BMW X3 M40i, in particular, equipped with a three-litre twin-turbo heart, promises 360bhp of power that propels the SUV to complete the century sprint in under five seconds.

2. Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic

Mercedes-AMG has revealed its first mid-size SUV from its Affalterbach facility. With 367bhp of power under its hood, the car is fitted with a three-litre V6 biturbo engine to clock an acceleration time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h. And being part of the AMG family, the GLC 43 comes with the 4Matic all-wheel drive, AMG Ride Control and AMG Dynamic Select functions to deliver a sporty ride. To further improve the drive experience, the car also comes with a newly developed front axle, taut elastokinematics and AMG speed-sensitive sports steering for increased agility.

3. Mini Countryman

The new Mini Countryman crossover is now bigger and better. With a wheelbase that’s 7.5cm longer than its predecessor, the car is 20cm longer, hence allowing for a significant increase in cabin space and storage volume. The five-seater also has a luggage compartment volume of 450 litres — it’s extendable to 1,390 litres to yield a total increase of 220 litres.  The more generous head, shoulder and legroom for both driver and front passenger offers a more comfortable ride too.

4. Audi Q5

Having recently launched the latest addition to the Q2 family earlier, Audi went on to unveil yet another SUV soon after. The all-new Q5 has been crafted to be 90kg lighter than its previous model, despite being slightly bigger. Larger in size also means this five-seater is roomier, surpassing its predecessor in key dimensions, while luggage volume is at 10 litres more in the range of between 550 and 610 litres. The Q5 comes standard with the new quattro drivetrain with ultra technology, powering the car to deliver 252 horses.

5. Jeep Renegade

Welcoming its first compact SUV ride is American automaker Jeep. The Renegade, which has landed on our shores, comes with a 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo engine that unleashes 138bhp and 230Nm of torque. Built with a range of innovative safety and advanced technology that includes blind-spot monitoring and LaneSense lane departure warning, the car is also engineered to tune out noise on the outside. It’s already garnered a number of international awards.
