Gabrielle Chanel’s muse and lover, Boy Capel, once remarked to her that “[she was] unlike anyone else”. These words — echoing freedom and individuality — have never been more relevant in a time where the beauty world is finally embracing diversity in all its form. Called Boy de Chanel, the new makeup line is made up of only three products that are designed to hide imperfections while staying imperceptible.
While Chanel may not be the first luxury label to offer a makeup line for men, its new men’s makeup line is a nod to today’s beauty industry, where cosmetics are progressively seen as gender-neutral. In a statement, the company describes its enhanced direction for its cosmetic arm, stating that “beauty is not a matter of gender, it is a matter of style.”
The star buy of the collection is the Le Teint Foundation. Available in four shades, it’s a tinted fluid with SPF properties and provides an undetectable “second skin effect”. Hyaluronic acid keeps skin well-hydrated, polymer resists excess sebum while soft focus powders blur blemishes.
Next in the lineup is the Le Baume Lèvres: A matte moisturising lip balm with an ultra-light yet nourishing formula to keep lips soft and supple without a hint of shine. The final is the retractable Le Stylo Sourcils eyebrow pencil to fill and define brows. All three of the products come in an understated design in a sleek midnight blue.
The Boy de Chanel line will be exclusively available in Chanel Fragrance and Beauty Boutique (ION Orchard) from 25 January, as well as CHANEL Fragrance and Beauty Boutiques (Marina Bay Sands, Raffles City, VivoCity) from 1 February.
