Man Up

All rise for The Penis Society, a theatre production by Toy Factory that showcases Singaporean men from a comedic point of view.

With an eye-popping, attention-grabbing title such as The Penis Society, one would be left wondering what to expect. But this, we know for sure — Toy Factory Productions, the Singapore-based theatre company famed for its witty and gutsy productions such as Glass Anatomy and Purple, wants audiences to have some unadulterated fun.

To be staged at Aquanova Restaurant Bar from September 10 to 29, the delicious M18 comedy is expected to enlighten all of us on the current male culture in our island-nation. Presented as a dramatised talk show triple-logue, the drop dead funny, sense-stirring performance dives into a civilisation where men have stripped themselves of all moral codes and where private parts become public entertainment.

Buoyed by a script from award-winning playwright Goh Boon Teck and directed by Patricia Toh, the play casts the spotlight on Prem John, Wilson Xin and Ryd Saleh —three emerging thespians all set to arouse theatre-goers.
