Professor Shahnaz is founder and chairman of Impact Investment Exchange Asia (IIX), a social stock exchange which will allow Asian social enterprises to raise growth capital. Among companies listed on IIX will be those that give micro-loans to female entrepreneurs in rural areas and provide low-income housing or sustainable food security solutions. Shahnaz also founded Impact Investment Shujog, the capacity and awareness building affiliate organisation of IIX. The investment banker-media executive-turned-social entrepreneur from Bangladesh has been an advocate for social and sustainable enterprise throughout her career, working vigorously to incorporate social responsibility in her work. Shahnaz also has experience as a successful social entrepreneur. She founded, ran, and eventually sold a socially conscious, for-profit business called oneNest in New York, which connected women entrepreneurs in poor countries to Western markets. Durreen is an adjunct associate professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
