Director of Eye Clinic Singapura, Dr Lim is perhaps best known as Southeast Asia's father of ophthalmology. But his work also extends beyond the region. He clinched the Business China Excellence Award 2012, which honours outstanding individuals and organisations for their successes and contributions to Singapore-China relations. Lim has been advocating the eradication of cataract blindness in China since 1986. Passionate about his field, he has trained more than 5,000 specialists in the 10 eye centres which he helped establish across the country. The result is close to half a million eye patients who have had their vision restored. On local shores, Lim is best known for being the founding medical director of the Singapore National Eye Centre and is a clinical professor at the Department of Ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore.
