Under the leadership of Executive Director Michael Tay, the eighth Russian Singapore Business Forum in September hosted its first Innovation/Technology Roundtable. During the session, the smartest start-up technology ideas were presented to a roundtable of investors and tech experts in a position to bring the ideas to market. The career diplomat-turned-entrepreneur initiated the RSBF when he was Singapore's ambassador to Russia in 2006 in the hope that it would be a forum that would push frontiers and pioneer new ideas. The RSBF today brings together businesses from more than 40 countries. At the most recent forum, leading Russian sports retailer Sportmaster and Nanyang Technological University signed an agreement to launch a joint innovation centre aimed at pioneering breakthrough sports technology for the Russian company. Besides his work with the RSBF, Tay is embarking on a project to stage an annual jazz festival in Singapore and establish a foundation for arts and culture. Tay is concurrently an adjunct professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
