Lee is a Destiny MMA Straw Weight Champion and Hawaii state wrestling champion. In 2016, she became the youngest to ever win a world MMA title by defeating Mei Yamaguchi to win the ONE Women’s Atomweight world champion title.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE SPORT?
“My parents are lifelong martial artists and they opened multiple martial arts schools before I was even born. Naturally, I grew up in the gym and was introduced to mixed martial arts at a very young age. My parents initially taught me martial arts for self-defence.”
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE CHALLENGES FACED?
“There are many highs and lows that everyone goes through. Some obstacles I’ve faced were being separated from my family, sickness and injuries, and dealing with a break-up weeks before my world championship title fight. I spoke with my family every day, listened to their advice and always found something to be grateful for.”
WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING?
“My family and my love for competition are what keep me going. My family is my anchor and they help keep me driven and motivated. I love to challenge myself to be the best that I can be — in order to do that, I stay focused, train hard and stay just as hungry as I was when I began my career.”
