A #Throwback To Society’s Most Stylish

Just a week’s shy of the Prestige Ball 2016, we take a look back on the women who turn heads with their fashion triumphs.

It has been our deep-rooted tradition to honour 10 women and (in our later years) a stylish couple who have each enthralled us with their fashion at our annual Prestige Anniversary Ball. From rocking transcending wonders to show-stopping statement pieces, these sartorial superheroes help seal our repute as the year’s top society gala.

This year, however, we’ve decided to take another step forward in embracing the idea of equal opportunity. We’ll start out small: By recognising the one most stylish gent who walks our red carpet and manages to catch the eyes of our secret panel of judges with his dapper finery. It is fitting that one of our brand partners Ermenegildo Zegna — reputed as a global leader in luxury men’s clothing — has come on board as a prize presenter for this.

But before we shake things up by ushering in a new era for our coveted Most Stylish Awards, here’s a quick look back at the top five most awarded ladies from our last five balls.

1. Grace Yeh

Truly a fashion force to be reckoned with, the mother of two has ranked on Prestige’s honorary roll for five consecutive years. Her devotion to Oscar de la Renta is unwavering, having walked our red carpet in a gown by her beloved couturier each time since 2011 — and picking up yearly nods along the way. “I strongly identify with the aesthetics of the fashion house,” Yeh said in 2014, when she sported a champagne-hued number with floral embellishments that sparkled in the light.

2. Rany Moran

Tying with Yeh for the most consecutive wins since 2011, Moran clearly not only has a knack for business ventures, but also possesses a flair for the finest in fashion. She lit up the red carpet in Rubin Singer in 2015, Prabal Gurung in 2014 and Pavoni Couture in 2013. One who sees a dress as a work of art, she told us in her December 2013 cover story: “I think about how beautifully made it is and the hours that went into it. How is it constructed? What materials is it using? I derive pleasure from enjoying fashion.”

3. Georgia Lee

Aside from attending to patients at her TLC Lifestyle Practice and running her very own skincare line, Lee takes her fashion very seriously. The doctor to the stars is a very own style starlet herself, stunning us repeatedly at every Prestige Ball. We’re still mesmerised by the Marchesa she wore in 2012 and can’t get enough of the Elie Saab gown from 2013, which she described as “deceptively simple”. May we also draw attention to the Jenny Packham hair accessory that flawlessly elevated the whole look?

4. Shabnam Arashan

The former lawyer and a mother of one has always been a front runner in the fashion stakes — something that is as expected of someone known to hold a library’s worth of fashion knowledge. In 2015, she chose Carolina Herrera for its bold print and peekaboo play of colours, in 2014 a Valentino inspired by Valentino Garavani’s 1968 collection and in 2011, a spellbinding Georges Chakra Couture that just treaded on the right-side of bridal. “Confidence is key in pulling off any look,” she simply said after her 2011 win.

5. Tanny Kea

It’s been five years, but we still remember how Kea strode in like a breath of fresh air when she arrived at the 2011 Prestige Ball in an uplifting yellow number from Gucci. The founder of beauty brand JavaGlow told us then that she was attracted to the colour as it is “unexpected and yet bears equal measure of elegance and poise”. Admitting that she has become bolder with her style over the years, she later turned heads in a Christian Dior crochet corset, and last year, a crocodile-skin Zac Posen gown. Let’s just say, we’ll be keeping an eye out for her.
