Consider Longchamp’s new bag model, the Paris Premier, a love letter to the City of Lights. It is the French house’s tribute to Rue Saint Honoré, the renowned shopping strip where its recently revamped flagship has been standing since 1988.
Inspired by the familiar architectural features of the neighbourhood, the new collection of totes comes in two sizes, in a rectangular shape evocative of the rows of arched windows in the Rue de Rivoli and the Rue de Castiglione. Rounded metal details recall the wrought-iron gates that stand guard in front of historic mansions. A luxurious embodiment of its mastery in leather craftsmanship, it takes many a skilled artisan to turn a piece of velvety-soft leather into an exquisite Paris Premier bag.
You can discover the secrets of Longchamp’s expertise yourself when the Longchamp Atelier opens in Paragon from 22 October to 2 November. It’s the first time the French house showcases its leather know-how with artisans at work and animation videos at a pop-up space in Singapore.
