Fashioned like Ferrari

The supercar-maker unveiled its Autumn/Winter 2016-17 collection that reflects the elements of its legendary GTs.

Slipping into a driver’s seat of a Ferrari grand tourer is almost like reclining in luxury, and it also seemingly puts you in a position of power and control. Perhaps the feeling is no different when you slip into a garment from the brand’s collection.

This year, the Italian supercar-maker presents a line of clothing that embodies the fine details of its iconic GTs. From complex bodywork liveries, to cabin trims and steering wheels, one can almost immediately identify the sleek and sportiness the brand is known for in this collection.

Outerwear is the main focal point of the collection, with casual jackets of contrasting details are the highlights of the show. Dark shades of colour in warm hues were largely used in the collection, ranging from red, black, navy blue and even bright blue. The women’s line takes a step further featuring a few pieces in pastel shades such as beige and powder pink, which often paired with crystal detailing.

In the menswear, there are classics such as the printed leather jacket inspired by carbon-fibre bodywork elements, and also new additions such as the bomber jackets in soft diamond-quilted calfskin with a detachable sheepskin collar, and a high-neck jumper with button detailing trailing on the side of one shoulder. The lady’s line holds similar structured looks from its counterpart, and also features softer looks such as the all-beige light-weight pullover with an imprint of the Prancing Horse motif.  Paying homage to the speedsters that earned the Maranello marque legendary status, all pieces included a serial number plate and Prancing Horse rivets inspired by the Ferrari GTs, while the zip sliders and forms were inspired by their steering wheels.

The special Liverea range has taken cues of the Ferrari 458 Speciale’s livery, adorning its sweatshirts, sweaters, polo shirts and t-shirts with the vertical stripe motif the automobile is iconic for. Straying not too far off is the Carbon Fibre Effect and Red Stripes collection which has red or black stripes through the fabrics of its cotton-wear range.  Embodying the Blu Corsa of the Ferrari 488 Spider, the brand’s capsule collection features sleek leather jackets and fitted polo tees in patent black and electrifying blue with motorsport-derived detailing.

To further compliment the Autumn/Winter collection, Ferrari introduces its accessories line that adds the finishing touches of the overall look. For the first time ever, the brand debuts its scarf line that comes in all shapes and sizes, such as a long rectangle scarf with imprints of its newly-designed motifs and fabric tassels sewed at the ends, and a beige square scarf that embodies a clean and minimalist style. The Trademark bag range also makes an entrance in this line, featuring a practical Travel Bag, a laptop case, shoulder bag and beauty case, all of which are made from calfskin with red stitching, linings and patent leather piping.
