Society’s Most Stylish 2014

Over 14 years, we have observed how progressive the styles of our society women have grown: From sublime understatements to show-stopping red-carpet wonders. As a Prestige tradition, we salute 10 ladies and a couple who enraptured us at our anniversary ball

Jim Rogers and Paige Parker

On Him

Outfit: Shirt from Brooks Brothers, vintage suit and waist jacket

Shoes: John Lobb

On Her

Gown: Carolina Herrera

Jewellery: Tiffany & Co. and bespoke pieces

“I like Carolina Herrera because I think she's a classic American designer that does beautiful clothes that are simple and not over the top. In June, I was in New York and I saw this dress, which had bees on it — I love bees and my daughter's name is Bee. So for the ball, I decided to accessorise it with my bee brooch. For my husband, I picked out his Bordeaux-coloured waist jacket, which I thought perfectly matched the red tones of my dress.”

Awarded: A four-night stay at luxury resort The Shanti Residence in Nusa Dua Bali, a bottle of Perrier-Jouët's Belle Epoque 2006 champagne and a bottle of limited edition Martell XO Architect

Karen Ong-Tan

Gown: Jil Sander

Accessories: Earrings and bangles from a private jeweller

“It's so much easier to get gowns in London and I enjoyed picking them out when I was living there. This Raf Simons for Jil Sander [dress] was one that I hadn't had the chance to wear before. When I heard he was going over to Dior and the industry gossip was that he would be a little conservative, I paid more attention to his swansong collection at Jil Sander. Simons described this dress as ‘peeling away the layers to reveal internal purity', which is a clever idea. I've always loved structure and yet the fluidity of this dress makes it very feminine.”

Awarded: A Royal Oak Classic Heart pendant and necklace in white and rose gold from Audemars Piguet

June Rin

Gown: Oscar de la Renta

Accessories: Vintage 1930s earrings and bracelet from Dickson Yewn

“This is the only yellow gown I own and I love how bright and cheerful it is. The most special thing about it is the embroidery — it is exquisite. The bracelet I'm wearing is done in the same style as the embroidery, so it matches quite well.”

Awarded: Sorgente necklace in white gold with diamonds from Damiani

Gracinha Viterbo

Gown: Marchesa

Accessories: Turban from Gracinha Viterbo Head Couture and vintage earrings and rings

“I found this gown in Paris and I just fell in love with it. It reminds me of Grace Kelly's wedding dress with its lace and big skirt, except it's coral red, which I love. I also collect and design turbans, a fascination I probably inherited from my great-grandmother. Turbans have become my signature; I enjoy wearing them and I feel empowered by them.”

Awarded: A Rendez-Vous Night & Day timepiece with a mother-of-pearl dial adorned with diamond chatons from Jaeger-LeCoultre

Rany Moran

Gown: Prabal Gurung

Accessories: Earrings from Bulgari, ring from Chopard, timepiece from Richard Mille and shoes from Christian Louboutin

“I wanted a look that was simple, elegant and youthful — which I found in Prabal's design. The red lipstick and hairstyle have definitely pulled the entire look together.”

Awarded: A Happy Diamonds pendant set with 10 star-shaped diamonds and three round, mobile diamonds with an 18k rose gold chain from Chopard

Grace Chng

Gown: Pavoni

Accessories: Jewellery from a Hong Kong-based jeweller

“When I first saw this dress, it made me go ‘wow'. But more than that, a dress has to make the wearer feel good and this certainly does that for me. Black is sophisticated and flattering, and it's one of my favourite colours.”

Awarded: Tanzanite diamond earring set in 18k white gold from Flower Diamond

Rosy Ho

Gown: Alexander McQueen

Accessories: Jewellery from Bulgari and minaudière from Judith Leiber

“I favour black dresses and I liked this one as it features a simple design and a good cut. The best part about my dress is the embellishments, which makes it look unusual so all I needed were simple accessories to complete the look.”

Awarded: An Ebel Onde stainless steel timepiece with a rose gold and diamond bezel from Ebel

Sally Huang

Gown: Isabel Sanchis

Accessories: Jewellery from a private collection

“I got to know designer Isabel Sanchis by chance while I was in Spain. She said I would look good in her designs, so I decided to give it a try. I chose this gown because I liked how simple yet sophisticated and beautiful it is.”

Awarded: Tiffany Somerset bracelet in 18k gold with diamonds from Tiffany & Co.

Susanna Han

Gown: Vintage Oscar de la Renta

Accessories: Diamond necklace from The Carat Club and bracelet from Mouawad

“I'm wearing an archived vintage couture gown that was specially brought in by Oscar de la Renta. It is the only piece in the world and it's a work of art. The embroidery with hammered silver threads and antique seed pearls give the dress a quiet elegance so it exudes an old world charm. I completed the modern- day Elizabethan look, by adding volume to the back of the dress.”

Awarded: A Buben & Zowerg Spirit 4 Time Mover with an aluminium chassis, German lock and state-of-the-art LED lighting technology with a fading function

Georgia Lee

Gown: Zac Posen

Accessories: Timepiece from Corum and necklace by David Gan (who designed it for her)

“I chose this gown because of its silhouette and how it brings out a woman's femininity. I love its simplicity, elegance and how it speaks for itself, so I can keep accessories to a minimum.”

Awarded: An Arceau Petite Lune timepiece with a white mother-of-pearl dial, steel case and matt indigo blue alligator strap from Hermès

Grace Yeh

Gown: Oscar de la Renta
Accessories: Vintage necklace and bracelet, as well as earrings and watch from Chopard
“I already knew that I wanted to wear a gown from Oscar de la Renta, because I strongly identify with the aesthetics of the fashion house. I bought two special gowns for the occasion and was undecided between them. In the end, I picked this because I felt beautiful in it and it also matches my bracelet well.”
Awarded: Tanzanite diamond earring set in 18k white gold from Flower Diamond
