Kidz Horizon Gala 2015

The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore ballroom was recently transformed into a cool military camp, complete with a faux tank and fighter jet — no, not for defence purposes but photographic ones. This was the setting for the annual Kidz Horizon Gala and in line with the “An Officer & Gentleman” theme, some 500 guests “booked in” dressed in variations of military chic — camo-printed gowns, embellished officer outfits and even British army ensembles. They were all there to show their support for the KKH Health Endowment Fund, which benefits children with cancer and other chronic illnesses. The gala kicked off with a speech by Kidz Horizon Appeal Chairperson Caroline Low-Heah, who expressed special thanks to new and returning donors for supporting the cause. The gala raised $750,000 via table sales and donations, while an auction helped to raise the amount to $900,000. The auction saw the fierce bidding of an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore timepiece that went for $100,000 and Indonesian painter Besta Bestrizal's I Am What I Am that went for $27,000. An SG50 Merlion diamond pendant by Flower Diamond, and a sunset cruise and dinner were among other items auctioned.
