The Ben Kende Foundation, set up to honour the eponymous young athlete, raises funds to support research and rehabilitation services in Hong Kong for those with spinalcord injuries and disabilities. On May 29, in partnership with Prestige Hong Kong, the foundation threw a girls-only bash at dragon-i.
The Sex and the City-themed soirée had ladies dressed to the nines in their best Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda outfits while sipping cosmopolitans and champagne.
Highly entertaining emcees Crystal Kwok and Gloria Wu invited rugby players on stage to present money-can't-buy auction prizes that included a cooking lesson with Liz Seaton of innovative local caterer Gingers, and a one-on-one mother-and-daughter session with psychologist Susan Mistler on how to avoid marrying a psychopath, all of which helped raise a considerable sum towards the foundation. The sportsmen, from the Hong Kong, and British and Irish Lions rugby teams, served as added entertainment for the evening, each player being “auctioned off” to join the lucky bidders at their tables.
Among the guests were Sally Lo, Lucy Lord, Christina Hellmann, Sharon Li, Charmaine Li-Jepson and Lumen Kinoshita. Lending their valuable support to the cause were brands that included dragon-i, Jebsen Fine Wines, Omtis and Essential Fine Wines.
