Held at The Fullerton Bay Hotel in November last year, the wedding of Melvin Soh, director of Continental Steel, and former Miss World Japan Kazuha Kondo was attended by hundreds of relatives and friends of the family.
In celebration of the bride’s culture, the couple — both decked in elegant kimonos — walked down the aisle to the melliflous sounds of traditional flutes playing, with the groom cradling their adorable baby boy Cameron.
After the family took their seats, guests were treated to an energetic Japanese dance performance, followed by a traditional sake ceremony where sake barrels were broken on the count of three and drinks served, symbolising the endless flow of harmony and happiness for the couple.
As guests enjoyed their sumptuous main course of roasted cod and lamb, the groom’s mother Lotus Soh took to the stage to serenade the newly-weds. Her rendition of “You Belong to My Heart” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” moved several guests to tears, and was received with rapturous applause.
The evening ended with speeches by the best man and the happy couple, who expressed their gratitude to their family and friends.
