Amira Genied and Cameron Priest celebrated their wedding with a sit-down dinner for 250 guests on 12 March at The Clifford Pier in The Fullerton Bay Singapore. Geneid is founder of Muslimah beauty brand Zahara, while Priest is co-founder and CEO of inventory management system TradeGecko.
The historic venue, with its open hall and high ceilings, was transformed into a botanical wonderland. Florist Floral Magic brought the outdoors in by using rich greenery (representing the bride’s favourite colour), David Austin roses, peonies and orchids. Glass baubles hanging from the lush arc behind the head table added a twinkling effect to the already sparkling view of Marina Bay seen through tall windows around.
Even before entering the hall, guests had the sensation of entering a garden, thanks to a grand flower- and foliage-covered structure with orchids trailing down from the ceiling. Besides giving privacy to the wedding party, it doubled up as a stunning backdrop for the photo booth with fun props. It was a hit with guests and the couple also got fun photos to show the less serious side of the wedding.
Guests watched a video of the couple’s engagement party and traditional akad nikah solemnisation. The bride was moved to tears during the speeches, especially the one by her younger sister, Alia. “Prior to her speech, she was telling me she was nervous and unprepared so I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by the thoughtfulness and sincerity of her speech. I also saw a lot of emotion in Cameron’s eyes when his older brother (Bradley) opened up during his best man’s speech.”
The party later got down to "breaking it out on the dance floor". The couple's first dance as man and wife was to Gregory Porter’s "Our Love". “It was also quite emotional for me to have my first dance with my husband followed by my father — the two men of my life,” says the bride.
