Seen everywhere on the runways, from 3.1 Phillip Lim to Missoni and Chanel, were lashings of blue liner. This decidedly non-neutral hue is perfect for both dark and lighter eyes – just be sure you lay it on confidently: no washes or fades here.
In the gallery: Makeup artist Samantha Ravndahl – ever forward looking – demonstrated this cool trend in early 2016.
Try the glimmering navy from Urban Decay's Gwen Stefani palette (or any of UD’s 24/7 blue liners), Kat Von D Ink Liner in Mad Max, or Laura Mercier Gel Liner in Indigo (above).
Liner works double or triple time this season a la Fendi and Tory Burch, sometimes with liner nowhere close to the lashes. Adapt it to everyday wear by bringing focus with an ultra-black, glossy line across the lids or a strong-and-smudged matte '90s waterline.
In the gallery: Makeup artists (like Crist-Hell) are taking the trend and running with it.
Try Urban Decay 24/7, MUFE Aqua Liner in black, or Estée Lauder Little Black Liner.
Sleek, chic and powerful, the slicked-back look (epitomised by this season’s runway looks by fashion houses Balmain and Roberto Cavalli) is easy and dramatic. Be sure to play up your cheekbones with bronzer and highlighter to add to the sculpted, dramatic aesthetic.
In the gallery: Stylist Jennifer Yepez also explored this simple style with a deep part and smooth, wet-look hair.
Try Aveda Control Force Spray, Jack Black Gel Pomade (to borrow from the men’s aisle) or Bumble and Bumble Gel.
VAMP IT UP
The brands amping up the volume of their lip hues are endless: Jason Wu, Oscar de la Renta, DKNY, Givenchy, Badgley Mischka and more. It’s no wonder: if you get the application right, perfectly symmetrical pouts are well worth the trouble. Charcoal lips might not be easy to wear, but opt for a deep berry stain and the trend is well translated to the office.
In the gallery: Makeup artist to the stars Mario Dedivanovic demonstrates the perfect, youthful application: dewy skin and sharp eyes balanced with a bold splash of colour.
Try Dior Lipshine & Care Couture Color Gloss N999, Russian Red by MAC, or Pure Colour Lipstick by YSL.
