The once sleepy town of Ipoh certainly has its lucky stars to thank for, for its change of fortune. These days tourists come in droves for its delightful local treats mentioned in travel guides like Lonely Planet and the latest being CNN.
Despite the burgeoning local culinary reputation, Ipoh certainly needs an elevation to its food scene to solidify its renown as a foodie’s haven. In comes Garvy’s In The Park French Fine Dining. From 2 to 11 June 2017, the restaurant will play host to two Michelin-starred chefs from the romantic city of Paris, Philippe Geneletti and Vincent Lucas.
During their stay, each chef will thrill dinners with his own customised menu.
Philippe will serve a five-course meal, highlighting new interpretations of French classics and Malaysian flavours, such as duo De Soupe a L’oignon, black and white French onion soup, and Red Snapper Pissaladière with Pesto Rempah, a dish that essentially cooks the fish with laksa pesto.
On the other hand, Vincent will introduce an eight-course meal, building upon the previous menu with additional dishes that further play with French and Malaysian flavours, as seen by the Homard en Tempura with Mousse de Calamondin, French for lobster tempura with calamansi foam.
Chef Philippe’s five-course menu is priced at RM188++ and RM288++ with wine pairing, while Chef Vincent’s eight-course meal will go for RM318++ and RM488++ with wine pairing.
