Style icon and fashion entrepreneur Tengku Chanela Jamidah addresses the feminist social movement through her latest Thavia collection aptly titled The Feminist Theory. The campaign by Thavia was designed for women who stand up for what they believe in and approaches feminism from the angle of sisterhood. The empowering collection also invites women to unite and break the connotation often associated with competition against other women.
The designs feature a soft array of muted hues such as blue, blush and tan to introduce a feminine perspective to the collection. Subtle details such as suede, eyelet and lace up detailing also play on Thavia’s contemporary approach to classic styles. A ruffles theme is highlighted throughout the collection as its ornamental wave effect represents the highs and lows of the female experience, battling gender advancement for the future generation.
To commemorate the launch of this significant collection, Tengku Chanela hosted an intimate tea party with a group of equally resilient women to discuss issues plaguing the modern woman today and what feminism means to them. The guests who participated in the engaging discussion included Datin Dian Lee, Deborah Henry, Raja Jesrina Arshad and Yasmin Rasyid.
