Dior’s newly refurbished store is a luxurious mix of fashion and design, serving not only as a shopper’s paradise but an art aficionado’s haven. A celebration of Christian Dior’s passion for art and his close personal friendships with the artistic geniuses of the time, the expanded store at ION Orchard showcases the works of several of the world’s leading contemporary designers and artists.
The renovated space, now spanning 700sq-m over two storeys, boasts an opulent interior dreamt up by internationally renowned architect Peter Marino, emulating the design concept of Dior’s boutique along the famed Avenue Montaigne in Paris. Not only is the store now the brand’s largest in Singapore, it is its first ladies duplex boutique in Southeast Asia.
Specially commissioned pieces of furniture such as Franck Evennou’s Curved and Twist mirrors, Roland Mellan’s Walking Table and India Mahdavi’s Bishop stools sit alongside artworks such as Pouillon’s white marble veined Antiquity fireplace from the period of Louis XVI in the exclusive VIP lounge on the first floor — accessible only by a private elevator to offer customers a more intimate and personalised experience.
On the second floor is where you’ll find the brand’s watches and jewellery, accessories, shoes, the entire range of handbags, as well as the ready-to-wear collection — surrounded by functional artworks such as a circular bench designed by Christopher Schanck and a stingray backbone table by London designers Based Upon, as well as Rob Wynne’s decorative ceiling installation Butterflies.
With polished limestone floors covered in modern grey zibeline carpets and classic mouldings peppering the walls and ceilings, Dior’s remodelled store is the perfect reflection of the brand’s values of marrying the old and new, offering a new perspective and dimension to the luxury shopping experience.
