The Andy Warhol: Social Circus Exhibition

Finally, it is Malaysia’s turn to host the Andy Warhol: Social Circus exhibition – a rare collection of the American artist’s polaroids, featuring prominent actors, artists and fashion designers from the ‘70s and ‘80s.

A leading figure in the visual art movement especially in the 1960s, Andy Warhol’s works, even after his passing, are still a big influence in today’s society. That is why it is with much anticipation that the largest collection of his polaroids are going to be shown here in Malaysia.

From 3 September to 18 September 2016, The Ryan Foundation, an establishment based in Singapore that supports arts education and nature conservation, will be presenting the Andy Warhol: Social Circus exhibition in Kuala Lumpur. Taking place at Slate @ The Row, the exhibition is free to the public. It will take you on a journey of his creative process with its thrilling collection.

The first time that these polaroids are exhibited under one roof in Asia, there will be around 50 artworks, which display polaroid photographs of personalities such as Warhol himself, Andre Leon Talley, Martha Graham and Bianca Jagger. Many of these people served as inspiration for the large-scale portraits that Warhol is best known for. From there, visitors will also get a chance to get up close and personal with original Warhol’s works such as the Saint Apollonia and Mao Zedong silkscreens.
