Genting Property leads the list of nominees for the third South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) 2016. The leading multinational emerged with four nominations going to its residential developments, with two of them, The Raintree and The Crystal, competing against each other for the Best Housing Development (South Malaysia) award.
Coming in close are Sime Darby Property Berhad, United Malayan Land Berhad (UM Land) and Pacific Star Group, which all clinched three nominations each for their mid-range and luxury condominium projects located in South and Central Malaysia. Sime Darby and UMLand have also been shortlisted in a new category this year, for Special Recognition and Sustainable Development.
“The annual South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) showcases the year’s best properties and investments, which have gone beyond mere financial gains and specific attributes pertinent to the difference and enhancement it has created in the property industry,” said Prem Kumar, executive director of Jones Lang Wootton, the chairman of this year’s central panel of judges.
The awards, organised the PropertyGuru Group, have managed to gather some of the country’s biggest and emerging developers to celebrate their achievements, despite the last couple of years being a challenging time for the industry.
The 2016 central panel of judges, comprise prominent leaders in real estate development, management, architecture and design while BDO will act as auditor, ensuring a fair and transparent process.
The awards this year feature returning contenders Mah Sing Group, IOI Properties Group Berhad and Hatten Group Sdn Bhd as well as many first time nominees such as Belleview Group, Curah Bahagia Sdn Bhd, LBS Bina Group Berhad, Matrix Concepts Sdn Bhd, Asal Harta Sdn Bhd, EweinZenith Sdn Bhd and Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
In addition to the 15 award categories in Malaysia, the editors of Property Report magazine will also present the Real Estate Personality of the Year award to acknowledge an individual’s contributions to the property sector over the past year.
The awards to be held on Aug 11 will be attended by Datuk Chua Tee Yong, the deputy minister of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. The black tie event is expected to welcome 300 guests. The event will be further boosted by the support of title sponsor Hansgrohe, media partner Property Report as well as the network of 16 million real estate consumers of the PropertyGuru Group.
