As Group President and CEO of Neptune Orient Lines, Ng Yat Chung helms the largest shipping and transportation company listed on the Singapore Exchange, and oversees over 11,000 staff across 112 countries. The group's brand APL made a strong showing at award ceremonies last year clinching the Intra-Asia Best Shipping Line accolade at the 27th Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs); Logistics Management's Quest for Quality Award for its outstanding performance in the transportation and logistics industry; and the Best Cold Chain Logistics Provider accolade at the 2013 Asian Manufacturing Awards. The group reported a net profit of US$20 million for the third quarter of 2013 and year-to-date net profits of $61 million. It also posted a year-to-date Core EBIT improvement of 33 percent or $42 million, from a $127 million deficit in the same period last year. Ng began his career in Singapore's military holding several appointments, including Chief of Army and Chief of Defence Force, before moving to Temasek Holdings and then NOL in 2011.
