A telecoms veteran with more than 36 years of experience in the industry, Montefiore took over as StarHub CEO in 2010. Singapore's second largest mobile operator has performed strongly under his watch, both financially and socially. StarHub exceeded analyst expectations in the third quarter to September 2012 to post a 27% increase in profit to $96.2 million. The company's shares climbed 26% last year, exceeding market leader SingTel's 2.9%, and the benchmark Straits Times Index's 15%. It is currently focused on improving the range of its cable TV offerings to stop customers from moving to rivals and to maintain its earnings momentum. Meanwhile, the company trumped 87 entries from 13 countries to win the Intel-Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Corporate Responsibility Award (IACRA) in October 2012. The top prize of the AIM Asian CSR Awards recognises organisations that have taken on a fully embedded approach to CSR across all focus areas.
