Lee Chee Koon is The Ascott Limited's CEO. Starting with one property in Singapore in 1984, homegrown Ascott has steadily expanded to become the world's largest international serviced residence owner-operator. The company operates three brands — Ascott, Citadines and Somerset, with more than 33,000 apartments across over 80 cities and more than 20 countries. Lee was formerly deputy CEO and managing director for North Asia for Ascott. He continued to extend the company's reach by adding 22 properties with more than 3,700 apartment units to its global portfolio in 2013 through an acquisition and securing of management contracts. During the year, Ascott also entered cities such as Hefei, Nanjing and Wuxi in China, Gurgaon in India, Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and Sri Racha in Thailand. The new properties bring the company closer to its target of having 40,000 apartment units globally by 2015. In the next few years, Ascott is scheduled to open 57 properties in the key gateway cities of Asia, Europe and the Gulf region. The 30-year old company clinched an impressive 110 accolades in 2013 including the titles of World's Leading Serviced Apartment Brand and Leading Serviced Apartment Brand in Asia and Europe at the 2013 World Travel Awards, and 2013 Business Traveller Awards for Best Serviced Residence Brand in China and Asia-Pacific, and Best Serviced Apartment Company in the United Kingdom.
