GILDED MOMENTS

The 70th Golden Globes ceremony was injected with a dose of fun this year, with notoriously talented co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler providing the guests with double the punchlines and laughter. Ben Affleck had a particularly golden night, taking home Best Picture, Drama and Best Director for Argo. Victor Hugo's novel-turned-film Les Miserables was awarded Best Picture, Musical or Comedy. Cast member Hugh Jackman received Best Actor, Musical or Comedy, while Anne Hathaway, in an elegant Chanel gown, accepted the award for Best Supporting Actress. In the category of Best Actor in a Drama, it was no surprise that Daniel Day-Lewis's authentic performance in the Steven Spielberg-directed film Lincoln outshone that of the other nominees. Stunning the audience in a crimson Salvatore Ferragamo gown, Silver Linings Playbook actress Jennifer Lawrence went on stage to accept Best Actress, Comedy or Musical, exclaiming good-naturedly, “I beat Meryl!”
