As buyer for one of the world’s most-visited luxury fashion shopping sites, Net-a-Porter.com’s Lisa Aiken spends a great deal of time on the plane and in various city capitals, whether at Fashion Week or doing trend presentations for international media and VIP shoppers. Here are her favourite spots to visit around the world — and what she brings along when she stops by.
Summer vacation accessory
Everyone is carrying a basket now. So we’ve got some great new brands coming in [to the boutique] in terms of baskets. Cult Gaia is like the Instagram sensation of the summer. I already managed get my hands on one, which I’m really happy about.
On-the-go beauty product
There are so many. Actually my favorite product is Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray because even when you wake up and, like, your hair’s [crazy], it somehow makes it look sexy and lived in. Three sprays and you’re done.
Ultimate footwear choice
Anything that is slipper-like. Which is why I love these Balenciaga slippers I have on.
The NoMad in New York. It’s not one of the most well-known, but it feels like home every time I walk in. And the best thing about it is the roll-top bathtub. They have a roll-top bathtub in every room.
Berners Tavern in London Edition hotel.
The Whitney [Museum of American Art in New York], hands-down. Since it moved downtown, I am obsessed with the Whitney. They have a really good rolling programme and then their collection, their static collection is really really strong too. And they’ve got a great bookstore downstairs, too.
