Named after the entrance to a traditional Hindu temple, Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is set by the Ayung River. Alila Seminyak is a contemporary resort with vertical gardens and an ancient temple at its heart.

Designed by Singapore’s URBNarc, the resort has 240 rooms and suites housed in four separate buildings, including a 811 sq m, three-bedroom penthouse. Each room has sliding doors, a wide balcony and sun-shading screens. Unique details include customised lamps with wooden batik blocks featuring contemporary-styled Balinese design motifs. It claims to be the first resort in Indonesia to surpass EarthCheck building, planning and design standards.

Katamama is a hip boutique hotel developed by entrepreneur Ronald Akili and architect Andra Matin. The hotel’s interiors were designed by Singapore’s Takenouchi Webb. Every detail in Katamama has been handmade or handpicked. The resort is filled with curated artworks, furniture and collectibles, many of which were originally in the owner’s personal collection. All suites feature king-size beds and boast balconies, secluded gardens or individual pools. There is also Akademi, a trendy bar created by mixologist Dre Masso.
